The Community Health Task Force (CHTF) Unveils Health Improvement Plan
The Bay County Community Health Task Force unveiled its Bay County Community Health Improvement Plan to mainly help the community reduce rates of diabetes and obesity. High rates of obesity are sweeping across the nation and according to the Centers for Disease Control more than 35% of adults are obese. In Bay County, recent results of surveys and health assessments by the Community Health Task Force show obesity is one of the main causes of diabetes in Bay County. Douglas Kent, Administrator of the Bay County Health Department said, "when this program gets fully implemented it's going to increase the life expectancy of our children and of our loved ones". The Health Improvement Plan will mainly focus on raising awareness and educating the community on healthy choices.
