The Panama City Swim Team hosted their annual short course meet this weekend, the second of two meets PCST throws every year. Over 400 swimmers from 12 different teams taking part in the three day meet, which kicked off Friday.
PCST Head Coach Jonathan Kaplan said he's impressed with the 116 kids that turned out from his team, and says having some special Olympic guests last weekend has really helped to motivate them.
"We did have Ryan Lochte last weekend coming into town, and Conor Dwyer," said Kaplan on Saturday. "I think having the Olympians has really inspired a lot of the swimmers to really step up their practicing and step up their racing so it's really helped out with a lot of these guys. Because they got to meet those athletes they got to see first hand a lot of those guys started at a lower level when they were younger and worked their way up. Just like these guys are aspiring to do."
This weekend's Paradise Invitational wraps up on Sunday.
