Week 5 of the prep football season is here, and the Rutherford Rams, one of the few squads left who hasn't taken the field in a district match-up- and they won't this week either, as the Rams head west to take on Class 6-A Fort Walton Beach.
Rutherford picked up their first win of the year last week on homecoming night as they faced the Suwannee Bulldogs. Quarterback Dallas Davis was 11-17 for 162 yards in the win.
Friday's game against the Vikings will be another tough one for the Rams, as Fort Walton Beach is 3-1 on the year, coming off a 28-14 win over Mosley last week. Head Coach Alvin Dempsey says while his team is practicing like they would every week, he's seen a little pep in their step since that victory last Friday night.
"We're still building on the things we've always talked about, and when you speak of enthusiasm, that's something we preach to those guys, especially when we were down in the beginning of the season," he said at practice Wednesday afternoon. "Believing, and having enthusiasm, and getting the things done that we need to get done, and you can see the attitude a lot more different now. They understand what it means to believe in what's going on, and that's what happened last Friday night, they really believed and put all three phases of the game together and we came out victorious."
Friday's game between the Rams and the Fort Walton Beach Vikings kicks off at 7/CT in Fort Walton Beach.
