Some say the key to a healthy lifestyle is to feed your spiritual and physical self, which includes staying physically fit.
A new center is opening its doors to provide just that and is part of the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church. A year ago, the church bought the 60-thousand square foot facility, formerly known as the Renegade.
Today the Fusion Fitness Center is a renovated space with workout machines, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as a state of the art soccer field. The fitness center also plans to attract sporting groups from across the country to use their facility for tournaments. They say it has the potential for bringing in visitors.
So far, the gym has over 1,400 members, a majority of which are non-church members. On Thursday, the Bay County Chamber of Commerce commemorated their grand opening with a special ribbon cutting ceremony. The executive director of Fusion Fitness says the project is an example of what people can accomplish if they just work together.
"People have been working, praying, painting, fixing, cleaning all kinds of equipment, repainting walls, it's been amazing." Julio Samayoa says.
