Panama City Beach is bracing itself for a pirate invasion this weekend, as the 'Pirates of the High Seas Festival' once again makes it's way into Pier Park. The event promises a weekend of fun and adventure land-lovers of all ages.
Crews were busy setting up the stage Friday and working on the sound. They also strung up the beach balls that will be dropped on hundreds of spectators later tonight at 8pm. Many of those spectators have actually come from out of town to enjoy the festivities, and that has put a smile of the face of many businesses.
They're looking to bring in revenue during the off-season, where the crowds are smaller than during the spring and summer. Businesses say this is the place to be this weekend.
"Getting better every year...every year its getting larger and larger," said Valerie Smith with Hook'd Bar and Grill. "People wanna come, check it out, see what's going on...so it really helps out with the off season. We need it, I think it's great."
