On August 28th the Holmes County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from homeowners on Gillman Road in Westville who returned home and discovered the back door a-jar. Upon further inspection of the home, it became obvious to the homeowners that several items had been taken, including Florida Wild Life Officer's badges and jewelry.
The Holmes County Sheriff's Office Investigators arrived and began their investigation. Subsequently, information was obtained indicating that a Ponce de Leon man, Jason Lee Roberts (30), had been in possession of at least one of the Officer's badges. Investigators then recovered several other items belonging to the homeowners from the residence of Jason Roberts. A female suspect, Starla Lacosta Cooper, was located in Walton County Jail where she was being held on unrelated charges.
Cooper was interviewed and more information related to the burglary was obtained. Warrants were obtained on both Roberts and Cooper. Roberts was arrested in Holmes County and is being held in the Holmes County Jail on a bond of twenty thousand dollars. Cooper is being incarcerated in the Walton County Jail and has a hold from Holmes County for the charges of burglary and grand theft.
On September 20th Holmes County Deputies were dispatched to a residence in northwest Holmes County related to a burglary.
Upon arrival, the homeowner advised that during the day someone had forced open the back door of their home and took several items including electronics, jewelry and guns. The entire home had been rummaged through and items were all over the floor.
Investigators located several items from the residence that had been pawned in Geneva, Alabama by Terry Neal Cain (26) of Vernon, Florida. Investigators obtained information that Timothy Adam Driggers (27) of Westville and William David Dean (19) of Cottondale were also involved in the burglary.
Driggers was located and arrested by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office in a stolen vehicle and is currently incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail with holds from Holmes County Sheriff's Office for burglary and grand theft. William David Dean has been arrested for burglaries committed in both Holmes and Washington Counties.
Terry Neal Cain is currently wanted by both the Holmes and Washington County Sheriff's Office.
In an unrelated case on October 1st the Holmes County Sheriff's Office received a complaint that a residence on Highway 90 in Westville had been burglarized.
Investigators discovered that the back door to the residence had been forced open and it was apparent that the subjects had gone through the residence and taken several items including guns and jewelry. Two male subjects where later stopped by the Evergreen Police Department in Alabama and it was discovered that they were in possession of property that had been stolen from the Westville home.
Officers were informed that the subjects were two of four escapees from Lauderdale County Alabama. Evergreen Police arrested the two subjects and took possession of several guns stolen from the Westville residence. These male subjects were identified as Ricky Dewayne Lawson (28) and Robert Lee Brown (20). Prior to the Westville burglary the other two escapees were arrested in Navare, Florida.
