Howard Gain wouldn't miss it for the world...to have a spot for him and his camera during the annual Veteran's Day parade and celebration in Callaway Saturday.

"I hear the music, the American music, and everything, and it touches me,"says Gain. "Even though I'm 82 years old, it still gets to me sometimes."

With a little over 20 years of service, Gain says he always gets excited to celebrate our country's freedom. "I love my country, and I loved serving it." And he remembers it like it was yesterday. "I enlisted in the Army in 1948. November 17th, to be exact."

His daughter and great granddaughter were at the parade today too and watched vintage cars drive by, girls dance, and the ROTC march.

Meanwhile, among the crowd was Navy and Army veteran Woody Jones who enjoyed today's celebration but says it's important to remember who's serving now.

"We should recognize the guys who are coming home now, and the job that they have done, and keep them in our minds and prayers," says Jones.

Following the parade, a small celebration with music and all American food.

Veterans Day is Sunday but the federal holiday will be observed on Monday. Government offices will be closed.
