A Local Charity Receives A Large Donation

Posted: Updated:

A local group is helping to make sure local donation centers have the resources they need to help take care of the less fortunate during the holidays.

For the past eight years, Heaven Britton and her four sisters have organized "Sponsors of Hope" to provide support for community charities that help the needy and as a place for volunteers to donate their time.

Tuesday they dropped off 2,000 toiletry items as well as clothing and toys to the St. Andrews Baptist "Center of Hope" ministry.

Britton says helping others takes a lot of time and effort, but the rewards are worth it.

"It's nice to be able to make a difference in other peoples lives and see how just a little kindness goes a long way. My sisters and I were raised helping others and finding ways of bringing cheer and some relief to the lives of the less fortunate around us," says Britton.

"Sponsors of Hope" began by donating their time at one nursing home and now they provide supplies for 70 different charities in the panhandle.
