Veterans Day has passed, but one organization is paying tribute to some Bay County elders who have served our country.
Clifford Chester Sims Veterans Home is a nursing home located on Tram Road in Callaway that provides special care for those who have served in our armed forces.
Tuesday they were presented with a check for over $5,500.00 by the Bay County Association of Realtors. The money was raised during a charity golf tournament that was held last month.
The money will go towards extra things for the veterans such as field trips, movie nights, postage stamps, and candies.
Contributors from the BCAR say it means a lot for them to be able to honor our veterans this way.
"It's just our honor to do something back for the community and to really focus on this group of people. This just adds - we feel like - a lot of quality to their life. They gave us so very much. The least we can do is try to give a little bit back," says Jan Cox, of the Bay County Association of Realtors.
This is the second year in a row the Bay County Association of Realtors have donated to Sims Veterans Home and it's a tradition they plan to continue in the future.
