The Liberty County volleyball team packed up the bus and headed down south to Kissimmee for the Class 1A Final Four Wednesday. The Lady Dawgs beat Sneads on Saturday in straight sets to advance. Head Coach Jennifer Sewell is in her 2nd year at the helm, and she said she never though this team would get to State this year, but she's definitely not complaining.
"I really don't think it's hit me yet," said Sewell. "When we won the other day, we ran out on the court, all of us were celebrating, then we all looked at each other and were like wow, this is really it. I think it'll hit us when we pull out and see that the community's behind us. We're really big about leaving it on the court and doing whatever it takes. One of our favorite sayings as a team is when your legs give out, play with your heart, and these girls have done it these last couple weeks, we've peaked at the right time."
Liberty's game against DeWitt Taylor is at 11/CT. If they win, the Class 1A State Championship is at 5/CT, where they'll face the winner of the Baker-Lafayette semi-final.
