If you fly out of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, you've got three parking options for your car; one of which includes covered parking.
But in a recent news release, the airport authority and St. Joe Company says they decided to close a nearby facility that solely provides covered parking.
However, they plan to build covered parking over the existing lot, close to the terminal. Executive Director, John Wheat says this will help them streamline their on-site parking operation. "We've been discussing what's in the best interest of the airport and both parties agree that from a business stand point that this made the best sense for our future success, and our future success is their future success as well."
As part of the arrangement, the airport will regain control of the 11 acres of land currently leased by St. Joe near the Sheltair aviation terminal. The facility is expected to close in mid December. No word yet on the look or estimated cost of the plan.
