
Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) has named John Van Etten as the new deputy chief of police. He will work alongside Chief of Police Barbara Montgomery to oversee ECP's Airport Police Department - - responsible for making visits to the airport a safe and secure traveling experience.
Van Etten brings 28 years of service and experience in law enforcement to the position. For the past eight years, Van Etten was the police chief for the Panama City Police Department; prior to that he acted as the deputy chief of police within the same agency for five consecutive years.
His formal education includes a bachelor of science in criminal justice from Columbia Southern University. He has attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy; a program less than one percent of law enforcement executives have the privilege of attending. Through the Criminal Justice Executive Institute Senior Leadership program Van Etten also received specialized leadership training.
"John will be a strong addition to the airport's team," said John Wheat, ECP's executive director. "His experience, specialized training and passion for the community make him an asset."
