Giving Back While You Shop this Holiday Season
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) December 10, 2012
Americans spent over $46 billion in holiday online shopping last year, and are estimated to spend $54 billion this year. In contrast, grade-school funding was cut by $1.8 billion last year, and that number might top $2.5 billion this year. Causera's Shop.Give.Share. program aims to fill the funding gap with money families are already spending.
"We were looking for a way to contribute to schools and other great causes without forcing people to buy things they don't really need or even want," says Causera CEO, David Liu. "And the great thing about Shop.Give.Share. is that people can support their organizations all year round whenever they shop online -- something we're all doing more and more often."
According to the American Research Group, Inc., the average American family will spend $854 during this holiday season. If 100 families from one school or organization spent that online through Shop.Give.Share., they could potentially give $2500 to their organization through their holiday shopping alone.
"The ultimate goal for Shop.Give.Share. is to provide a seamless online shopping and donation experience," says Hugh Olliphant, Causera's Head of Technology. "All customers have to do is visit the Shop.Give.Share site, select the cause they want to donate to, and then shop through the links on their organization's online mall."
Shop.Give.Share. was launched in November and the Causera team hopes it will serve as a long term solution to ongoing fundraising."My kids are always bringing home order forms from their schools and clubs. I feel horrible harassing my relatives for donations to things that end up gathering dust in the pantry," says Mara Decker, mother of two from East Bay, CA. "With Shop.Give.Share. I get what I actually want and just pass on the link so portions of my relatives' purchases go to my kids' school as well."
Causera Inc., which operates Causera.org and Qlubb.com, is an Internet company focused on improving organizational fundraising and management.
