Panama City Mayor Greg Brudnicki is recommending that the proposed Star Avenue location for the homeless resource center be taken out of consideration. In a news conference Thursday morning he said that would be his plea to the Commission.
Panama City Commissioners were planning on acquiring land off Star
Avenue near the Bay County Jail from the St. Joe Company in order to
build a homeless resource center. They met opposition from area residents, schools and the Rescue Mission that currently serves the population in downtown Panama City.
Brudnicki is also resigning from his post as Director of the Bay Area Resource Center and Community Campus, Inc as of December 3rd. He says that is because it is a conflict of interest to serve on the board and the City Commission.
