A Panama City attorney faces a new round of legal problems after his arrest on multiple charges.
Richard Henry "Rick" Albritton, III was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence, possession of less than twenty grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a police spokesman, officers found Albritton passed out at the wheel of his Cadillac at the intersection of US Highway 98 and 23rd Street just after 4:30 a.m. When he was awakened by the officers, Albritton was "dazed and confused" and smelled of alcohol, police said. He reportedly refused to submit to a field sobriety test.
In September 2008, Albritton was fired from the State Attorney's office after he fled the scene of a traffic accident and was later found passed out in his SUV in the drive through lane of a fast food restaurant. Police released Albritton to family members on the night of the incident; three Panama City Police Department officers were later suspended for giving Albritton preferential treatment.
Albritton, 43, appeared before a judge Saturday morning to answer the latest misdemeanor charges and was released on his own recognizance.
