Every day of the year is recognized for a special cause or event. January 9th is recognized across the United States as National Static Electricity Day to help people gain knowledge about static electricity. "Static electricity is the build up of electrons or even the removal of electrons it just depends on what type of material you are working with and the static charge is created when those electrons jump from one object to another object," Education Director Jennifer Petro said.
Static electricity usually occurs often in warm, dry conditions which can cause static build up with your hair. To reduce static Kristin Maddox, owner of Topix Salon recommends using moisture based shampoos and conditioners.
