Bay County Code Enforcement and the City of Panama City Beach Code Enforcement will host a community meeting from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Panama City Beach Senior Center's Lyndell Building, located at 423 Lyndell Lane, Panama City Beach.
The purpose of the meeting is to answer questions about beach lighting ordinances that must be met by May 1 to comply with a federal mandate. The ordinances are intended to ensure that sea turtle hatchlings travel toward the gulf rather away from it via the use of turtle-friendly lighting by beachfront properties.
The meeting will feature speakers from local, state and federal government agencies who will cover a variety of related topics. A vendor and exhibit area will showcase wildlife-friendly lighting products.
Tourism professionals, property managers and their staff, contractors, residents and visitors are all encouraged to attend.
