It's yet another reminder to make sure you lock up your valuables carefully. Police arrest three men in connection to a burglary spree in the Cove area in Panama City, and they say more arrests are on the way.
Police arrested 29 year old Kenneth Mayo, 14 year old Si Nguyen, and 16 year old Chance Layfield on several charges, including burglary, theft, and credit card fraud. Mayo has a long history of burglary charges.
"Their motive was trying to take care of their families, paying for food and clothing...and they were going to sell the items on the street," Detective Kelly McLaughlin said.
Police say over a two week span, the men went through the neighborhood looking for easy access cars. They took electronics and whatever high priced items they could find.
"There was gift cards, headsets, women's purses, headsets, speaker systems," McLaughlin said.
Investigators say the men even made away with a golf cart.
"The keys were in the golf cart, along with the battery charger," McLaughlin said.
She said the trio's thefts eventually caught up with them.
"There was a lead we had from a credit card that was used out of a purse which was stolen from a vehicle burglary."
It's another reminder to safeguard your belongings.
"I would advise neighborhood watch to watch out for your neighbors, definitely lock your doors," McLaughlin said.
Investigators say the items the stole totaled more than $5,000. They say this is not the end of their investigation. They're working more than a dozen related burglaries in the Cove and more charges and arrests are expected.
