Saturday at Pete Edwards Field on Panama City Beach, several soccer stars looked to chase their dreams of making it professional as the PCB Pirates hosted the first day of try-outs. The Pirates play in the Southeast Division of the Premiere Development League, a platform league to advance their careers. Head Coach Greg DeVito says several players from last year's squad have moved on, which makes try-outs imperative for success.
"We had 11 players either sign professionally from last year or invited into professional preseason so we're doing our job progressing players onto the next level," he says. "The problem with that is, we have to do it all over again with the recruitment process. It's a good thing because it provides the opportunity for other players to come in an play for the pirates."
Try-outs continued Sunday, and the second set of try-out days are February 9th from 1-4, and February 10th from 9-1. For more information, click here.
