Dr. Hatem Mourad from Coastal Urgent Care and Family Medicine says Diverticulitis is going around. 

Dr. Mourad says, "The colon sometimes has small pouches in its walls," and when these become infected, Diverticulitis can develop.

Symptoms include:

  • Pain in the left, lower part of the belly
  • Fever
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea and vomiting

Dr. Mourad says treatment depends on the severity of the condition.  Antibiotics and dietary changes may be recommended for mild symptoms, while severe symptoms can require hospitalization.  @
