For a few hours on Saturday, Bay County senior citizens learned a nutritious lesson.
Doctor Michael Stokes was the guest speaker, at Bay Medical Center's free Heart Health Fair.
The cardiologist says many southern foods are not necessarily healthy, not because of what they are, but because of the way they are prepared.
Doctor stokes reviewed a number of popular weight loss diets, and says they all have something in common, understanding what we eat, and making a change from bad food to something healthier.
"I'm hoping that we will remember those and keep those second thing is to improve on some of the things that weren't so good about southern food these folks will go home and start reading more and start being their best teacher and information gather", says Stokes.
Everyone who attended the health fair had an opportunity to have their cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure checked.
