Motorcyclist Killed on Tyndall Parkway

Posted: Updated:

A late night accident on Tyndall Parkway has left one person dead.

The fatal crash happened at the intersection of Tram Road and Tyndall Parkway around 11 p.m. last night.

Authorities say the truck was driven by 33-year-old Christopher Allen Bass. He was going west on Tram Road, awaiting clearance to make a left onto Tyndall Parkway. As Bass crossed the intersection, he said he heard a "thud" but never saw the motorcycle, which was driven by 27-year-old Christopher Donald Manley.

The motorcycle made impact on the drivers side of the Ford F-350 and was seen wedged underneath the truck. Springfield Police say this was because Manley laid the bike down to avoid the collision, but was too close and slid under the truck. Manley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither Bass or his passenger were injured. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
