It took a jury just 35 minutes on Friday to convict a Bay County man of felony battery with great bodily injury and permanent disfigurement.
Michael Anthony Montano, 26, faces up to five years in prison when Circuit Judge Michael Overstreet sentences him on February 4.
Assistant State Attorney Rob Sale showed jurors during the one-day trial that Montano hit a defenseless victim, Garrett C. Myers, in the face with such force in May 2012 that doctors had to install nine plates and 63 screws into Myers' face and wire his jaw shut.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Montano was released from prison in February 2008 after serving nearly four years for burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft and trafficking stolen property.
