Alan DanfordThe Bay County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service to the Southport area on January 28, 2013, at about 10 pm in reference to a burglary. The victim stated his safe, containing cash and firearms, had been stolen.
Subsequent investigation developed Adam Hammock, DOB 7-5-90, of 3936 Scurlock Lane, Southport, as a suspect. When investigators made contact with Hammock he denied any knowledge of the burglary but agreed to allow investigators search his room. Investigators found a banded stack of fresh $2 bills in Hammock's room which matched the description of some of the money kept in the stolen safe. Hammock told investigators that Alan Danford, who lived nearby, was likely responsible for the burglary.
Contact was made with Danford, DOB 10-30-95, of 7839 Resota Beach Road. Danford initially denied any involvement, but then assisted investigators in locating the safe which he and Hammock had thrown in a creek. Several items purchased with the stolen cash were located. The stolen firearms were not.
Hammock and Danford were charged with Grand Theft and taken to the Bay County Jail.
