Dr. Hatem Mourad from Coastal Urgent Care and Family Medicine says Viral Gastroenteritis is going around. He explains that it "is an infection of the stomach and intestines."
Dr. Mourad says symptoms include:
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Fever
Headache
Muscle aches
Belly pain or cramping
Loss of appetite
He recommends seeking medical attention if you notice any of the following:
Symptoms of dehydration
Diarrhea or vomiting that lasts longer than a few days
Vomiting blood
Bloody diarrhea
Severe belly pain
Have not been able to drink for a few hours
Have not been able to urinate
To help prevent Gastroenteritis, Dr. Mourad recommends:
Washing your hands with soap and water often
Avoiding changing a diaper near where you prepare food
