Dr. Reed May be Heading Back to the Operating Room

Dr. Michael Reed is out of federal prison and could soon be going back to the operating room.

Thursday he went before the Credential Committee for the Florida Board of Medicine. This weekend they will make a recommendation to the Board to reinstate Reed's license with the following terms:

  1. Comply with the Professional Resource Network contract or PRN, an impaired practitioners program.
  2. Undergo an evaluation to determine if he demonstrates the ability to practice medicine in a safe and competent manner.
  3. The board can impose conditions including probation.

Reed's license was suspended in late 2009 after pleading guilty to federal cocaine conspiracy charges. He was sentenced to nearly five years in prison but was released earlier this month.
