Candidate qualifying is underway for "Super Tuesday" in Bay County. Voters in Panama City, Lynn Haven, Mexico Beach, Springfield and Parker will go to the polls on April 16 for municipal elections.
A total of fourteen offices will be contested. Voters will choose four mayors and ten commissioners.
When Mark Andersen, Supervisor of Elections, officially opened qualifying at the Government Center at noon on Monday, several candidates were already inside and ready to file campaign documents and pay fees for a run at public office. By day's end, 11 candidates had qualified to seek election. Qualifying ends at noon on Friday, February 8.
Andersen said his office is focused on treating all the candidates equally and instilling trust and confidence in the election process. "Whatever candidates are doing with us stays with us and we don't get involved between candidates," he said.
