UPDATE: Odor at Mosley was Roofing Materials; School as Scheduled on Thursday

UPDATE: Area fire departments and the gas company have worked with school district staff throughout the day to determine the source of the strange odor in halls of the main building at A. Crawford Mosley High School. It has been determined that odor was coming from some materials being used for roof repairs on the building.

A regular school day will resume tomorrow. Students should report to school at their regularly scheduled times.

Students at Mosley High School were evacuated from the building at approximately 8:30 a.m. this morning after the smell of gas was discovered in the building.

Students were removed from the school, as fire department officials completed a sweep of the school to find the source of an odor that was described as a "gas odor." The gas utility was turned off and the odor dissipated.

Parents were notified by the school's alert system and all students have returned to classes and lunch schedules will be adjusted to ensure that all students have the opportunity to eat lunch.

A Bay District Schools maintenance crew will go to the school after school when all students have left the building in order to determine the source of the odor and make any repairs that may be needed.
