Gulf World was called out to Callaway Monday morning after reports of a stranded dolphin.
Employees of Gulf World tried to assist the animal, which made its way in Callaway Bayou under the bridge on Star Avenue.
It was determined that the dolphin was sick and underweight.
But while waiting for a boat to transport it back to Gulf World, the dolphin slipped away to go elsewhere.
Secret Holmes-Douglas is a member of the Gulf World Staff. She advises people if they do find a dolphin or any marine animal stranded to call the proper agencies trained to handle these type of situations.
"The proper thing to do when you find a stranded marine animal is to call the proper authorities or agencies that are trained to handle these types of situations," Holmes-Douglas said.
Gulf World says that the animal may try to strand itself again. If you see the animal, call Gulf World at 258-6968.
