A Bay County organization is gaining momentum in it's drive to assist those living below the poverty line. AP Family Life Educational Counseling has two programs going on to assist children of families living below the poverty line.
One of those is the backpack program, backpacks that are filled with a wide range of food and distributed free of charge. The other program, Nutrition for Success, is aimed at teaching low income families the finer details on how to prepare nutritious meals for their families.
Currently the communities served by these projects are Springfield and Cedar Grove Elementary Schools, but APFLEC is looking to expand to other schools in Bay County.
Donations of nonperishable food for the backpack program are appreciated and volunteers are needed to help in distribution and other functions. For more information, call the agency at 763-8100.
