FDOT Monitoring Water Levels on Ochlockonee River at Highway 20 Bridge

Posted: Updated:

Due to rising water levels on the Ochlockonee River, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is preparing for the possibility that water may cover the roadway and close State Road 20 at the Ochlockonee River Bridge at the Leon/Liberty County line.

FDOT is closely monitoring river levels and has prepared barricades and detour signing for this location. The magnitude of flooding will determine the duration of the closure.

Motorists are encouraged to monitor weather reports and road conditions and to be on the lookout for flooded roads. If the road ahead is flooded, turn around and find an alternate route. Flooded roads may hide the fact that the roadway is washed out underneath and as little as six inches of rushing water can force your car off the road.
