Motorists traveling on the westbound span of the Hathaway Bridge (U.S. 98) in Bay County will be transitioned to the outside lanes of the structure the evening of Tuesday, March 5 to allow crews to repair a joint on the bridge deck. Crews will be restriping the work zone to accommodate traffic Monday, March 4.
Traffic will continue to be reduced to two lanes of traffic from the bridge approach for approximately 1,700 feet. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed spring 2013.
Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the speed limit when traveling through the construction area, and to use caution, especially at night when driving in work zones.
FDOT`s number one priority is safety, therefore the department will continue to monitor the bridge throughout the project.
