Saturday night, Springfield Police and the Bay County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate a shooting during a drug deal that left one dead and another being treated in a Pensacola Hospital.

It happened in the 3800 block of East 8th Street just before 8:30 Friday night.

Springfield Police Chief Philip Thorne says officers responding to a 911 call found 19 year old Christopher Shane Purswell dead at the scene and 22 year old Branden John Junlakan with a gunshot wound to the face.

Junlakan was transported to Bay Medical Center then transferred to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

Police say both men had been staying at the La Brisa Inn in Parker.

According to police, the men were shot during a drug deal with two unidentified individuals.

Both suspects fled the scene and police continue to search for them Saturday night.

A Shooting in Springfield leaves one dead and another injured.

Police say they responded at around 8:30pm Friday night to the intersection of 8th St. and Helen Ave.

One person was fatally shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was injured and sent to Bay Medical Center. Police are talking to a third victim.

Bay County Crime Scene Investigators were on the scene.

Springfield Police Chief Phillip Throne says there are two suspect still on the loose. They believe they are black males and are armed.
