The Inn at Great Neck and the Viana Hotel and Spa, which are members of Small Luxury Hotels of the World add complimentary access to The New York Times as a new guest amenity and service. They are currently the only two hotels on Long Island offering this service.
Long Island, New York (PRWEB) March 06, 2013
In March of 2013 the two hotels on Long Island, New York that are members of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the Viana Hotel and Spa located in Westbury and the Inn at Great Neck located in Great Neck have added a new amenity for all their guests to enjoy. They now offer complimentary electronic access to The New York Times. They are currently the only two hotels on Long Island offering this service and amenity to their guests.
Upon check-in guests now receive a small and brief instruction card in their key packet with a mention of the offer. All guests then have to do is connect to the Hotels’ WiFi with any device that has a browser and they will have unlimited access to The New York Times throughout the duration of their stay. Since both hotels offer free Internet-WiFi service, no charges will be incurred by the guests. As long as the guest stays within each Hotel’s IP range they will be able to enjoy reading one of the world’s finest pieces of journalism, with continuous coverage of the most important news, issues and newsmakers, plus provocative opinion and innovative multimedia.
Both hotels believe that their tech savvy corporate, leisure and social guests will thoroughly enjoy this new amenity and will take full advantage of it. Each Hotel will be asking their guests for feedback on the new service and in working directly with The New York Times, they will also be able to see what percentage of their guests take advantage of the service.
The Inn at Great Neck’s General Manager, Franklin Manchester anticipates that approximately 50% of their guests will utilize the service and as the word spreads he believes that may climb as high as 60%.
When Takir Rafiq, the Viana Hotel and Spa’s General Manager was asked about the service, he replied, “Due to the fact that we are a green hotel and we steer away from paper products except for all the basic toiletries provided in a room, this is in line with our self-imposed environmentally friendly standards. Offering guests a suitable alternative to a printed newspaper is just so befitting to the Viana Hotel and Spa. We believe our guests are going to enjoy this new amenity and appreciate our continuous efforts to become even more environmentally conscious. Having a publication such as The New York Times at one’s fingertips with a touch of a button is just great. I look forward to the feedback we will receive from our guests.”
It is worth noting that the small instruction cards that will be handed out to the guests of the hotels have been printed on recycled and environmentally friendly paper. Perhaps the electronic access to such a publication is a sign of the times and a good indication of what is to come in the not too distant future?
