Starting Monday, parents can begin applying for the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program for the Fall of 2013.
Bay District Schools will begin accepting applications starting at 7:30 AM Monday.
All applications will be accepted online. Children must be 4 years-old on or before September 1st to be accepted. The District offers the pre-k services at 18 school sites. Starting this year, all beach VPK programs will be located at Arnold High School to make more room for the over-populated elementary schools.
This change is something School Board Member Steve Moss says allowed the program to stay alive on the beach.
"It would have been easy to say 'we're not going to offer the VPK period, instead of moving it to Arnold and spending money to renovate those classes," says Moss. "I had a pre-k-er last year, there's real value in those programs. The last thing I wanted to do was cut them."
You can find the online application for the VPK program at www.bay.k12.fl.us/prek.
