UPDATE: Westbound Lanes of Back Beach Road Re-Opened After Wreck

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Both westbound lanes of Back Beach Road are now open again for normal traffic flow following a mid morning accident that caused major delays on Back Beach Road.

According to the Beach Police Department, a promotional truck for "Jack Links Beef Jerky" was involved in a traffic accident that caused minor injuries.

However, the truck had two huge fuel tanks that were damaged, causing an estimated 200 gallons of fuel to leak onto the ground.

Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman said that fire and hazmat units were dispatched to clean up the fuel spill.

Whitman says that delays of up to three hours are expected on Back Beach Road. Traffic is being diverted to Middle Beach and Front Beach roads. Motorists should avoid the area if possible.
