Two people were killed in a Saturday morning traffic crash in Walton County. Seven others were injured, two of them critically.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the scene on State Road 20, three miles east of County Road 3280, at 11:17 a.m. Saturday.
The FHP said a 2000 Dodge was eastbound on SR-20 when it drifted across the center line. The driver, Brittney Gallagher of Willoughby, Ohio, veered "aggressively" back into her lane and the car began spinning, the FHP said. Gallagher's car again crossed the center line and was struck by a westbound pickup truck, the FHP said.
Gallagher, 21, and passenger Courtney Miller, 21, of Niles, Ohio were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers in Gallagher's car were injured: Diana Mitchell, 22, of Solon, Ohio (critical) and Lauren Kane, 22, of Willoughby, Ohio (critical).
Five people in the 2006 Dodge pickup were injured. They included the driver, Kelly Porter, 26, of Stillwater, Oklahoma (serious); Braden Solis, 21, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (minor); Tyler Magar, 22, of Yukon, Oklahoma (serious); Courtney Butnett, 23, of Edmond, Oklahoma (serious); and, Matthew Gallant, 21, of Oklahoma City (serious).
The injured were taken to Bay Medical Center and Gulf Coast Medical Center for treatment.
The FHP said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
