Shooting Victim Declared Clinically Deceased; Moody Charged with Murder

The Panama City Police Department continues to investigate a shooting incident that occurred on March 19, 2013, in the parking lot of the 23rd Street Station shopping center located at 650 W. 23rd Street, Panama City, Florida.

The victim in this case, Megan Pettis, did not survive her injuries and was pronounced clinically deceased on March 20, 2013, during the evening hours. Ms. Pettis is currently on life support to facilitate organ donation. The immediate family of Ms. Pettis has asked the Panama City Police Department to ask others to respect their privacy during this time.

According to the Panama City Police Department, Joseph Moody will be charged with an open count of murder. His first appearance on the new charges will be on Friday at 2 p.m.

The State Attorney's Office will decide on amending the criminal charges against Moody.

This case is still under investigation and more details about the evidence collected in this case will not be released due to further criminal charges and pending court proceedings.
