The Gulf Coast Lady Commodore volleyball team enters next season coming off one of their best years in recent memory- beating Pensacola State for the first time in Head Coach Kyle Peck's three year tenure.
Sand volleyball is a good training tool in the offseason, especially when you're playing stuff competition like Florida State- who is entering their second season, and is currently ranked 3rd in the AVAC Poll.
While the four participating Gulf Coast teams got a lot out of today, so did the Noles. Head Coach Danalee Corso told me this is the first time all year her team has played on an actual beach, since most stadiums they play at are built on campus.
"It's a lifestyle sport, and part of that lifestyle is playing beach volleyball on the beach," said Corso on Sunday. "That's why we scheduled this and that's why we're here. We've had a really good time, and it's nice to hear the waves and be in a hotel right on the beach, so it's been a wonderful time. I was thinking some of the JUCO girls might be a little bit nervous but we love to see new faces and the sand is a great equalizer. We don't take anyone lightly."
