On Saturday, the Gulf Coast women's basketball team finished their run for a fourth National title, falling in the 3rd place consolation game for a 4th place finish at this year's JUCO National Tournament. Monday night, the ladies rolled back into town. Head coach Vernette Skeete saying everything the team accomplished this season hasn't hit her yet, but says winning state and making it to the National Tournament was a goal her and her team set from day one.
"We kind of knew the caliber of team that we had," said Coach Skeete Monday night. "We expected all this stuff, and we actually expected to win it. It's a little different. It's kind of bittersweet, as we feel like we fell a little short, but I'm definitely proud of these girls for trusting in me and trusting in the system, and just battling everything we had to battle all year long and just have a classy program and compete."
