Posted: Updated:

River Road at Gum Creek will be closed beginning April 8, 2013 for approximately 4-6 months.  Please see below for detailed information.

Project Information

his project will replace the existing bridge on River Road over Gum Creek.  The existing single-lane wooden bridge will be replaced with a two-lane, concrete structure with standard lane and shoulder widths, plus barrier rail.  The approaches to the new bridge will be paved with asphalt approximately 530' south of the new bridge and 400' north of the new bridge.  New guardrail and stormwater features will be installed where necessary.

Road Closure

The contractor intends to implement the road closure on April 8th.  Weather and other factors may delay this to some degree.  I have attached the approved detour route to be used during construction as well as the executed Road Closure Agreement.

Construction Duration

The contractor has been granted 180 calendar days for the project.  This should yield a completed project in the early fall of this year (September/October 2013).

Public Involvement

Affected property owners were notified of the project and invited to a public meeting via mail-outs in March of 2011.  Notice of the meeting was posted in the Washington County News.  The meeting was held at the Five Points Community Center on April 7th, 2011.

Construction Contract

The contractor for the project is Commercial Industrial Corp and the FDOT Construction Project Administrator is Mr. Josh Riley.  He can be reached at 850-836-5716.
