An inmate is stabbed at the Apalachee Correctional Institute in Sneads Thursday afternoon.
According to Ann Howard, Communications Director at the Florida Department of Corrections, one inmate stabbed another at the facility off U.S. 90 in Sneads. The all-male prison is built to hold 1,322 inmates and has a staff of 336.
Howard says according to Department of Corrections policy, both the victim and the suspect in the stabbing are being transported to area hospitals. The victim's specific condition is unknown, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
Howard says all other staff members and inmates at the facility are fine and the prison is not on lockdown.
The incident is under investigation.
