Tyler Jett, the Callaway boy attacked by a bulldog on April 2, has died at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, according to a family member.
Tyler, 7, was pronounced dead Sunday morning in the pediatric intensive care unit of the hospital, the family member said.
The dog's owner, Edward Daniels, has been charged with tampering with evidence for allegedly washing blood off the face and paws of the dog following the attack. It's not known how the child's death might affect the case against Daniels, 21.
The family member who confirmed Tyler's death asked not to be identified publicly, but thanked the community for its support. "We appreciate all the prayers and thoughts and help the community has given to the family and Tyler during this terrible time," he said. "We thank them from the bottom of our hearts."
