The Panama City board approved the contract for Nevin Zimmerman at Tuesday nights commission meeting. Rowlett Bryant has served as city attorney for more than forty years. Tuesday night was his last night in that seat at city hall.
Zimmerman works for the Burke & Blue Law Firm in Panama City and has previously served as county attorney for Bay County. After some changes to his contract, it was unanimously passed by the board.
Zimmerman says he is excited to get back into government law and looks towards the future.
"I'm really excited about being able to represent the city commission," said Nevin. "I look forward to doing it.
"It's been ten years since I've been able to represent a government entity and I'm really happy to be able to do it again. It's been an honor and privilege to be able to follow Rowlett Bryant and the long history he's had here in Panama City."
The next regularly scheduled commission meeting on April 23rd is the first Zimmerman will sit in as city attorney.
