Cardiac patients across the panhandle can now reap the benefits of the most advanced technology available. Bay Medical-Sacred Heart replaced two its cardiac catheterization labs with machines that can provide more accurate diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases.
This technology will help the heart institute to treat coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias.
The two new labs from Phillips include the latest in digital x-ray technology which enables physicians to capture and view detailed images of a patient's coronary structure. During the process patients are exposed to less radiation and less dye.
Dr. Amir Haghighat, an interventional cardiologist says this is the technology of the future. "This is part of the hope and the dream, when LHP came on board a year ago, that they would invest as they have to help us grow our program here.
As mentioned before, this non-invasive procedure is very helpful to diagnose problems. With the use of bi-plane imaging, doctors can get better visualization with less distortion.
