The Bay County grand jury indicted Joseph G. Moody on Tuesday of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Megan Pettis.
Grand jurors found that Moody, 41, of 5538 Whitfield Road, acted with premeditation in shooting Pettis in the 23rd Street Plaza parking lot March 19.
A panel of senior attorneys at the State Attorney's Office will review Moody's case to determine if the facts meet the statutory requirements for the death penalty. Otherwise, if convicted as charged, Moody will face a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
He is currently scheduled for another court appearance May 7.
