BCSO Fighting Cancer in Honor of Investigator

Posted: Updated:

The Bay County Sheriff's Office is standing strong beside one of their own who is fighting cancer.

Investigator Paul Vecker is undergoing cancer treatments for the second time. To show support, the Sheriff invited the public to "Raise Hope with Paul."

Attendees gathered at the Shrimp Boat Restaurant for food, fun, and a Chinese auction featuring items from business across Bay County.

All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society and Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa.

Public Information Officer, Ruth Corley, said they will do whatever it takes to support a member of their family.

"We've dedicated our efforts this year through Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society to Ed Langford. Ed was a Bay County Sheriffs Investigator who passed away last year. So, we're dedicating those efforts to him, our t-shirts and everything at Relay to Ed. Tonight, is Raising hope with Paul, Paul Vecker, who's another investigator fighting cancer for the second time. So, yes, this is very near and dear to the sheriff's heart," said Corley.

Attendees were asked to write notes of encouragement to Vecker in a special book to be presented at the end of the event.
