Two days of art, theatre and musical performances are in store as the Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College showcases the very best of the year in its Annual Spring Arts Festival. The free event features student art and performances by the GCSC Concert Chorale and theatre students.
Filled with the best studio work by art and non-art students, the Student Art Show will feature ceramics, drawing, jewelry, metalwork, painting, photography, silkscreen and sculpture. GCSC art faculty members selected the artwork to display and some pieces will be available for purchase.
The Concert Chorale will perform music by mostly American composers and be joined on stage by students from Parker Elementary School and the choir from Family of God Church. A few musical performances from "The All Night Strut" will make an encore appearance and the Young Gulf Coast Players from GCSC's Kids' College will perform selections from children's musicals.
The art exhibit opens the evening of Friday, April 26 with a reception from 5-7 p.m. followed by a Concert Chorale performance at 7:30 p.m. The theatre department will present its program Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. All events are free and the public is invited to attend.
The artwork will be on display in the Amelia Center Main Gallery, Room 112, until May 2. Regular gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, please contact Tiffany Fraioli at (850) 872-3886.
