Both men and women from SIM's veterans home took the field in a baseball game for the ages.
Veterans from all military branches got a heroes welcome at Miracle Park this afternoon and took to their designated dug outs.
Mayor Gayle Oberst threw out the first pitch before men and woman of the SIM's home took the field for a one inning game.
The Miracle Park is a smaller version of a baseball field, but hitters had no problem using that to their advantage.
Organizer Dave Johnson says this event is an opportunity to bring back old memories and get veterans out in the fresh air.
"It started out as a special needs baseball field for kids, but we took that a step further and added a Wounded Warrior slash veterans game," said Johnson. "So, we fell in love with the SIM's veterans and this is our fourth game for them.
"We have veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam out here playing baseball having a great time just like a bunch of kids."
After the ball game veterans were served an all star lunch. Hot dogs and hamburgers, fitting for a day at the ball park.
