Today the Florida House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 9079, sponsored by State Representative Jimmy Patronis (R-Panama City), to recognize Bay County on the occasion of its centennial celebration and honor its residents, community leaders and elected officials for 100 years of distinctive history. One hundred years ago today, April 24, 1913, Bay County was established by an act of the Legislature of the State of Florida, which took effect and was in force on July 1, 1913.
"I am privileged to have had the opportunity to recognize and honor Bay County and its residents on this historic day. Bay County truly is the epitome of what makes our state so great. With its rich history, beautiful beaches and waters, thriving business environment, proud military presence and close-knit, yet diverse community, this is a place I am proud to call home," said Rep. Patronis. "I am honored to represent Bay County in the Florida Legislature, and look forward to continuing to work to make it an even better place to live, work and vacation."
A copy of the House Resolution will be presented to the Bay County Board of Commissioners and to each county constitutional officer.
